A lot of people feel that emergency situations and disasters cannot happen.
If you feel this way, you need to look at California with the earthquakes or in the Midwest with the tornadoes.
Especially now, you do not know what will happen or when.
Always be prepared (like a boy scout or girl scout). Here are a few items you can do right now to make sure you can survive an emergency or disaster:
A. Make an escape plan. Have a map in a central area of your home that shows all possible exits in your home.
B. Practice the escape routes with your family. Practice – Practice – Practice.
C. Make sure all possible exits will lead to one central meeting point.
D. Make sure you take a count of everyone to make sure all are present.
E. Make sure everyone in your family has a bug-out bag including your pets.
F. Items for your bug-out bag should include one change of clothing, matches, lighters, water filtration bottle(s), dehydrated food items, a first aid kit, emergency blankets, and snacks. Your bug-out bag should include all necessary items. Your bug-out bag should be light to carry.
G. If you have animals, you should make sure that they also have a bug-out bag. The bug-out bag for a cat or dog should include a leash, wet food, dry food, water, a favorite toy – hopefully, this will help your pets stay calm.
Emergencies are always tough to prepare for. You need to think about what is absolutely necessary should you have to leave your home.
